Recently I asked someone about their salvation; I asked are you saved and the answer was I hope so.  My first thought was he has not studied to be sure.  From his statement it become clear that he has not studies his believes.  He may have accepted Jesus because of the fire in hell.  We call this  buying a "Fire Insurance Policy".  I hope that when the policy comes due it will cover his sin.  Remember to study what you believe.  Don't accept what others say, they maybe wrong.

Who's works?  Man's or God's
by Stewart Topping

Hebrews 3:15-19 (NKJV) 15 while it is said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion." 16 For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? 17 Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

So what happened after the Jewish people followed Moses; they went through the Red Sea, then moved through the wilderness and then stood at the Jordan River.  It would seem that after discussion with God they didn’t want to go into the land of Canaan.  God called it the promise land; given to Abraham if he was obedient to the covenant with God, which he was.

What is a Church? ..

Church_of_Broager

by Cornelius R. Stam

It is strange but true that most people -- even the great majority of religious people -- do not know what a church is. Ask the average man what a church is, and he's apt to reply: "Well, anybody knows that! A church is a building where people go to worship God." But this is not correct. The word translated church, in our Bibles, simply means assembly. A church is not a building, but the assembly that meets in the building. Technically, a church is not even a religious gathering, for the same word is used in Acts 19:32 of a riotous mob which had assembled at Ephesus, and this verse says that this assembly was confused and that "the greater part knew not wherefore they were come together." Perhaps this could apply to many a church today, but the point is that a church is not a building but an assembly of people.

The church of which the Bible has most to say is "the Church of God, which He hath purchased with His own blood" (Acts 20:28), and St. Paul calls the church of this present dispensation, "the Body of Christ," or "the Church which is His Body" (I Cor. 12:27; Eph. 1:22,23). Continued

Make sure what you do for God is directed by God not Man

Galatians 5:18 (KJV) says

"But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law".

Ephesians 2:20 (WesleyNT)
Built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone, On whom all the building fitly framed together,

The Law would require you to build your foundation on wood, hay and stubble but when directed by God you build your foundation on Gold Silver and precious Stones.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15 (KJV) 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

God faith
....

Reader

Hebrews 11: 5-6 says that it is impossible to please him (God) without faith.   There are severals components to this scripture
  • You must believe that there is a God
  • You must believe that he is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him
  • You must believe that prayer works
If you are believing  and seeking .... This article is for you.  Don't forget to forward to a friend.  Again thanks for reading.

What is faith?
Let’s look at the encyclopedia and then the Bible. What does Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia say?
Faith is the confident belief or trust in a person, idea, or thing that is not based on proof.  Faith is also referred to as “confidence or trust in a person or thing”.
    What does the Bible say?
Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) 1 now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is a substance, something that is real; but there does not have to be evidence of it.  So what do you believe?  Take a look around you when you are outside.  Could it be an accident to see the possibility of hundred and thousands of bugs, animals, trees, vegetations?  Is it an accident that humans are so capable?  Look at the advances of our race.  We are playing catch up with creation. But with God’s help it is easier. Could it even be possible to have a big explosion and we have creation, now the big bang theory that take more believe than believing in God.
Hebrews 11:5-6 (KJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
We can’t please God if we don’t believe and trust in him.  Why would he acknowledge us if we don’t know him. Faith is one of the most precious treasures a man can possibly possess. It is a pity that so few understand what the Bible teaches about it. Faith is often confused with presumption, optimism, determination, superstition and imagination. Actually it is just simply believing. (This is from a series of Two Minutes articles were written many years ago by Pastor C. R. Stam)
Romans 4:5 (KJV) 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
    Faith cannot be something you conjure up; it cannot be worked for; some would say you can appropriate it.  Believing is something that requires no work. Remember grace is free for all who believe; all you have to do is believe and He is a rewarder of them that seek Him.  We must believe to have faith; I suppose they are really the same.  If Faith is counted for righteousness; then you can only get saved if we have Faith.  So believing produces faith which will count for righteousness which God then provides a covering for justification. (Just as if we had not sinned in the first place) If you do not believe in God;
  1. you might be nervous
  2. you might feel condemned
  3. you might feel you are not accepted by God, or forgiven
  4. You might be worrying about life, your home, your kids, etc.
If you are utilizing the Holy Spirit living within you then you are not condemned; some call it walking in the spirit, or being led by the spirit.  In either case it is allowing God to help and guide you in your everyday life. You must trust him!
Romans 8:1 (KJV) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Galatians 5:16-18 (KJV) 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
I know that it sounds simple, but sometimes it takes prayer to understand.   Sometimes we have not allowed God to re-train us, we may have not moved on in our Christian growth.  We are still on milk not meat of the word.  We may assume that all we had to do was accept Jesus into our heart and we can continue with our lives without change
Hebrews 6:1-3 (KJV) 1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and oflaying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit.
Going on to perfection is spending time with God thru prayer.
Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV) Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Well doesn’t that sum up what we are talking about; Peace of mind, not worrying about anything.  Just praying to God thru Jesus and leaving everything to Him.
